The formal “Appraisal Process” as found within most policies appears rather straight-forward on it’s face, however, the fact that each and every state in the US has differing laws and statutes that govern the actual processes makes it vitally important that only properly trained individuals should be retained as appraisers and umpires.
The professional designations of Certified Insurance Appraiser (CIA) and Certified Insurance Umpire (CIU) as promulgated by the NAIIA are only obtained by member individuals that complete the rigorous training at the 5 Regional Conferences offered through-out the year. The specific case laws that were developed in each of the states within that particular region are integral parts of the program.
